Tomas Wagner
Founder of Air Con Surrey and an F-Gas qualified air conditioning engineer, based in Guildford.

F-Gas qualification and registration
Anyone who installs or services air conditioning in the UK must be F-Gas qualified. These are Tomas's details, and they are updated here as each document is issued.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| F-Gas qualification | City & Guilds 2079, Category I, assessments passed October 2026 |
| Certificate number | Published here when City & Guilds issues the certificate |
| Company registration | REFCOM registration for Air Con Surrey (SharpCode Ltd) under way; the number goes here once issued |
| Based in | Guildford, Surrey |
You can check any engineer's F-Gas status yourself: ask to see the certificate, and look the company up on the REFCOM register or with the certification body named on it.
What Category I covers
Category I is the broadest F-Gas personnel category. It covers installing, servicing and maintaining, leak checking and recovering refrigerant from stationary air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems of any size, including the R32 systems fitted in most homes today.
It's the qualification the law asks for before anyone opens a refrigerant circuit. Deliberately venting refrigerant is an offence, so recovering it properly at the end of a unit's life is part of the job.
What Tomas does
Tomas takes on air conditioning installation and servicing in Surrey himself. If he quotes for your job, the quote comes from Air Con Surrey and says so.
When a job is outside his area, or you'd simply like more than one price, Air Con Surrey matches you with vetted, F-Gas certified local engineers instead — the way the service has always worked. How it works explains the steps, and how we get paid covers the money.
Before air conditioning
Tomas built software for a living before he picked up a set of gauges. He studied at Brno University of Technology, worked as a chief technology officer, and in 2024 founded SharpCode Ltd, the company that runs Air Con Surrey.
Air Con Surrey started as a guide and quote service. In 2026 Tomas qualified as an F-Gas engineer so that he could take on jobs himself. You can find him on LinkedIn, and Air Con Surrey has its own LinkedIn page.
